Two quick photos

I can't really work with these images on this godawful laptop, for all I know they're out of focus and horrifically underexposed, but I wanted to share something while I still have internet access!

Kahului Town

This is the town I grew up in. Kahului is the biggest city on Maui, yet the population is only like 30,000.

Another view of Kahului from the Harbor. That apartment complex is Harbor Lights. I've lived in probably eight different apartments in Harbor Lights over the years. Mostly in the "D" building on the far right, but also in "A" and I think "C" (A is in the front, and C is on the left, I think?) The road running in front of Harbor Lights and along the Harbor is Kahului Beach Road, which runs sort of around and back toward Wailuku.

Another view of Harbor Lights. This is what it looked like when I lived there. I don't know when they painted it that hideous pinky color. I don't know why Maui is turning into South Beach.

My high school, Baldwin High in Wailuku. In fairness, I was hardly ever there. I mean, hardly ever at all.

Here. My favorite place, Iao Valley. The tall rock formation is the Iao Needle. You pronounce it "eee-ow". This place is so beautiful. Any time I went there, there was always at least one couple getting married in the valley. So, so pretty and peaceful. And haunted. Some of the best ghost stories come from the Iao Valley, because it was the site of one of the bloodiest wars of old Hawai'i. Cool stuff.

hi!

first post.

This is where I plan to keep my thoughts and stories journaled during my trip back home to Hawaii. I'll add pictures as I'm able, but probably initially it'll mostly be just boring stories and emotional reminiscing. Great. I'm already sick of this blog.

My trip is from Friday October 26th through Friday November 2nd. Then I spend a week in Los Angeles with Casey, Ellie, and my family. I'll also blog about that trip, and some pictures of Ellie at Disneyland, you know, stuff you're DYING to look at.

Even the first post is boring me!

Wow. That's pretty. OK, this post just got much, much better. Yay for Johnny Depp.
